OH MY GOD!!!!! What a great Dinner at Stillwater on Saturday Night!

In a comfortable yet elegant setting, we had a incredible dinner Saturday night.
One of the best I've ever had in WNY. We had an old favorite specially ordered that evening,
beef wellington, which my wife and I would usually have once a year in Toronto.
It was the best, and probably largest, filet mignon I've ever had. The type that you know was
selected from a kitchen with an experienced eye for...I'm guessing...the kind of aged beef you read about in all the gourmet magazines. Thick and perfectly cooked, with the kind of texture you'd expect in a perfect cut of beef, that sliced like room temperature butter...OH MY GOD!

I asked the waitress to recommend a wine for the beef I was having, and after a discussion with
those on her staff, she recommended a Merlot that was great! (needless to say I can order a cup
of coffee with the finesse of an expert...but not necessarily the wine) GOOD CHOICE!

We opened with a "Starting Plate" of Trio of Scallops (in three different sauces).
It was had to pick which we liked best, and needless to say, we gobbled them up.
Once again...I'd highly recommend it.

That was followed by the Stillwater house salad that was wrapped in a cucumber bowl
and covered with their house dressing of a "passion fruit vinaigrette" that was outstanding.

Then our main course...as oulined above.

We ended the dinner with a German Chocolate Cheesecake as well as a warm Fudge Brownie
with a Cafe Mocha Ice Cream (if I remember it correctly) and everything was just outstanding.

Walking back several car spaces to where I parked was a little overwhelming at this point, but we managed somehow!

So really, great dinner, great ambiance, great service...I'd highly recommend it...and if anything, I left disappointed at the dishes we hadn't tried yet.
